As Christians, we're called to follow Jesus' example of service. In God's kingdom, Jesus tells us, greatness is defined by service:
Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
(Mark 10:43-45 NIV)
At Central, we serve in many ways. Here are some of them.
Monthly Service Projects
Each month, we have a congregational service project,
offering everyone the opportunity to help those with
special needs. Among these are:
- singing at local nursing homes
- sorting food and clothes at the Durham Rescue Mission
- helping members move
- doing yard work for our senior saints
- collecting school supplies for the battered women's shelter
Thank You Baskets
Each year, we prepare boxes of snacks and goodies and
deliver them to local police and fire departments,
EMS centers and post office branches. This is our way
of saying, "Thank you"
for the services they provide us and the rest
of the community.
Women's Group
Women's Prayer Outreach
Once a month, a group of sisters from Central gather
to pray to our Father in one accord. Using Scripture,
we lift up our concerns and thanksgivings to the
throne of the Living God.
