Job and Me

I have been reading Job. Yes, once again I have opened the book of Job and begun reading. This is a book that makes me think. It is a book that causes me to wonder. It is a book that screams “Why?” to me. Yet this time, in reading it, I have discovered verses 23- 26 in Chapter 33.

Yet if there is an angel on his side as a mediator, one out of a thousand, to tell a man what is right for him, to be gracious to him and say, 'Spare him from going down to the pit; I have found a ransom for him'--then his flesh is renewed like a child's; it is restored as in the days of his youth. He prays to God and finds favor with him, he sees God's face and shouts for joy; he is restored by God to his righteous state.”

Now I see the difference between Job and me. I knew the difference all along, but I have just now seen it. It is so obvious and simple. It is Christ: He is my mediator, He is my rescuer, He is my redeemer, and He is my Savior. Can I have trials? Yes. Can I have trials that I don’t understand? Yes. Will I be disciplined? Yes. However, I am also redeemed, I am also cleaned, and I am also an adopted child. I am an heir. What a hope we can find in reading Job!
